Giro d’Italia winner Richard Carapaz to join Team Ineos for 2020

30 de outubro de 2019

Giro d’Italia winner, Richard Carapaz will join Team Ineos from the start of the 2020 season.
The Ecuadorian adds to an already impressive stable of cyclists that contains Egan Bernal, Geraint Thomas and Tour de France champions Chris Froome and has consented a three-year deal.
Team principal Sir Dave Brailsford – whose staff have won seven of their last eight Tour de France titles – said:”He’s obviously a wonderful climber but also has great flexibility as he showed at the Giro before this past year.
“He’s still relatively young and I don’t have any doubt that he will develop and enhance even further at Team Ineos.”
This season, when he triumphed in the Giro, carapaz became the first rider from Ecuador to acquire some Grand Tour.
He explained:”I’m quite excited about joining the group. I feel that this is a great chance for me to keep my development and expansion for a rider, operating with a group that continues to move from strength to strength, year after year.
“I think I will fit into this group well and race to my entire potential over the next several years. I want to attain some terrific triumphs to get Team Ineos.”
Meanwhile, tour champion Nairo Quintana is currently joining Arkea-Samsic on a thing.
The 29-year-old Giro, who won the Giro d’Italia in 2016 at 2014 and the Vuelta, has twice finished runner-up at the Tour de France.
